Post it #7

The poetic device that is found through out the book of Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines, is diction. The main character of the story is from the southern united states. The narrator of the story has a very thick accent through which the story is told to the readers. The Writer of the story uses many different slang words that are used in Kentucky and Tennessee and Georgia. As this story takes place in South Carolina the main character Ashton uses many different terms of words that are used in the southern united sates. When we are use to the term, "all of you" Ashton uses the term "Y’all." The use of diction through out the story changes everything, you are able to get a feel of where the character lives what their life is like and how what they say can change the story. If Ashton was not to talk with a heavy accent through out the story and have the setting in a southern state this would have taken away some of the realistic elements in the story. " when we have a party, Y’all can come down." (Glines 201) This is a good quote to show how the different diction is used. We would have said when we have a party all of you can come down to see us. I enjoyed how diction was used to show the readers the setting of the book, it was well written.
